In 2008 David Miller made his first-class debut in the Dolphins’ final game of the 2007/2008 domestic SuperSport Series, scoring a half-century in the 1st innings he participated.

He made the catch at 41 making his inning one of the best innings in the Indian Premier League history. He was retained by Kings XI Punjab for the 2014 IPL where he played all matches and help his team to reach the finals. It was announced that he will be the captain of the Kings XI Punjab for the 2016 IPL.

On 15 October 2010, Miller made his maiden ODI fifty against Zimbabwe and South Africa went on to put a massive total of 351.

He was again selected for 50 over World Cup in the year 2015 when he was 26 years old. David Miller became one of South Africa’s top performers at the 2015 Cricket World Cup scoring 324 runs at an average of 65 and strike rate of 139 during the tournament.

In 2017 Miller was selected for the Champions Trophy.

In 2018 he was bought by the Rajasthan Royals ahead of the 2020 Indian Premier League. In February 2022, he was bought by the Gujarat Titans in the auction for the 2022 Indian Premier League tournament.
