Chameera, a right-arm fast bowler, debuted for Sri Lanka in an ODI against New Zealand on January 29, 2015. He bowled Ross Taylor for his maiden international wicket in his first over, and he also removed Grant Elliott, as Sri Lanka won the match. Chameera was chosen for the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup. However, he did not play in the first several games. He has selected for Sri Lanka’s last group A match against Scotland, in which he grabbed three wickets for 51 runs.
