GT Win By 5 Wickets

The fourth match of Tata IPL 2022 was between two newly included franchises. It’s Gujarat titans versus Lucknow Super Giants. Gujarat titans won the toss and had no brainer to bowl first.

Gujarat was led by Hardik Pandya and his counter opponent captain was Lokesh Rahul, the stage was set at the beautiful stadium of Wankhede, Mumbai.

Sensational Shami With The New Ball

Mohammed Shami with the new bowl is always a delight to watch. He nips the ball back into the right-hander and has got a wonderful same position as well. We have seen across the formats especially in red ball Cricket that he has wonderful control with the new ball.

The first ball of the match was nothing short of entertainment. Shami comes in bowls and gets through the captain of the Lucknow Super Giants.

It was an appeal for the caught behind which was not given by the umpire and they Reviewed that and in that process, it was curtains for K Rahul. He went back with a golden duck, that was an awful start for K Rahul.

Shami just gave 7 runs in his first 2 overs and took two important wickets after sending Rahul to the pavilion, he uprooted the stumps of Quinton De Kock too and it was the perfect start for him Gujrat Titans.

In His complete spell of 4 overs, he gave away 25 runs and took 3 wickets that were a wonderful outing for the fast bowler.

Dream IPL Debut For Ayesh Badoni

We just talked about how good was Mohammed Shami with the new ball but because of that brilliant spell Lucknow Super Giants got themselves to a position of serious trouble, where they were 29 for 4 down inside the powerplay then comes a young Rookie, unknown Indian local youngster, who not only rescued his team from that misery but also made his mark in his IPL debut.

He scored a fabulous knock of 55 from 41 and at that point in that position on a debut that was a super brilliant effort by the youngster who is only 20 years old.

He made sure  that Lucknow get themselves to a score of respectability and they ended up with 158 for 6

With the top order collapsing very quickly, he was very well supported by Deepak Hooda as well who also scored a decent 55 which ensured his team scored a fighting score against the Gujarat titans.

Hardik Pandya The Bowler Arrived

Hardik Pandya is one of the most incredibly brilliant talents that team India has got in the last few years and a lot of credit for nurturing and identifying his talent goes to Mumbai Indians, the way they identified his all-around ability and then gave him the platform to showcase his talent.

When he emerged in the Cricketing scenes he was known as a proper all-rounder who bats in the top 6 and can bowl 3 to 4 overs every game, that’s why his stocks were so high in T20 cricket..

His sensational hitting ability always added glamour to his cricketing resume, but in the last few years he was not bowling regularly neither for Mumbai nor for team India due to different injuries that didn’t allow him to continue that,

Since then his place in the Indian team remains questionable for that all-rounder slot. Many pundits of the game feel that he’s playing as a pure batsman might not be justified because of his consistency with the bat.

There were no authentic updates about him bowling in this year’s IPL as he answered that question as a surprise for everyone but today when he bowled his complete quota of 4 overs though didn’t take any wickets and gave away 37 runs.

But watching him bowl was a great sight not Only for Gujrat titan fans but for Indian cricket team fans too as there is a world cup later this year and with fit Hardik Pandya available, will be weighed in 24 karat gold for the Indian team

Nail-Biting finish

Gujarat Titans needed to chase 150 and 20 overs. They would have backed themselves to get these runs at Wankhede as it is generally a good batting strip. Outcomes the openers Shubman Gill and Mathew Wade. Gill got out cheaply in the first over for a duck. Gujarat last two wickets in quick successions and got themselves at 15 for 2 then comes their captain Hardik Pandya at the crease.

He promoted himself to number 4, generally, .he used to bat in the lower middle-order number 5 or 6 but he decided to come up in the batting order and take the responsibility on his Shoulders.

He did it Cruised along really well in the next few over Scoring a decent 33 from 28 balls that made them ready for the platform to chase this target. He lost his wicket to his brother when he mistimed one in the air. Gujrat after that kept losing the plot and got themselves to a state of bothering.

Krunal Pandya’s Magic With The Ball

Kunal Pandya with the ball was just too good not only took the wicket of his brother but also bowled a very economical spell in the middle of the innings. In his 4 overs, he just gave away 17 runs and those were the overs where the required run rate kept on climbing  Gujrat Titans started to crumble.

He only took one wicket but he was quite brilliant in the context of the game. He also made a healthy contribution with the bat at the end of the first innings as well, scoring 21 of 13 walls which helped his team to score 158.

Rahul Tewatia, A Name To Remember

A couple of years ago when k Rahul was captaining the Punjab side, it was Rahul Tewatia who almost from a losing position won the game for Rajasthan, when he smoked Sheldon Cottrel for 5 sixes in 1 over, that’s was quite a Stellar effort.

At number 6 again tonight he came out to bat and the required rate on was flying above 11 and he had to play a sensible destructive Knock to seal the deal for his side.

And he did exactly that, some of his shots were mind-blowing, reverse sweeping the spinner. manoeuvring the crease and going over the leg side, made a very invaluable contribution of 40 from 21 balls, he was well supported by  Abhinav Manohar scoring quick-fire 15 from 7 balls and that was enough to win the game for Gujarat in 19.4 Overs.

so the two newly entered franchises had a rollercoaster of a first Contest and Gujarat had the last laugh in the IPL.
