Jasprit BumrahJasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Jasbirsingh Bumrah is an Indian international cricketer who represents his country in all game formats. He is the only Asian bowler to take five wickets in a Test innings in South Africa, England, and Australia in the same calendar year. Jasprit Bumrah drew attention with his unusual motion and then his bowling abilities. The unique release point of Bumrah’s deliveries makes it difficult for batters to select him, despite his unusual sling-arm activity and natural velocity.

Apart from that, Jasprit Bumrah, like his Mumbai Indians teammate Lasith Malinga, has a reputation for having an uncanny ability to hit the blockhole. And it was during his stint in the IPL he learned how to utilize the yorker properly from the Sri Lankan.

A regular member of the Indian Parliament. Before a crippling left knee injury held him out for four and a half months at the end of 2014, Bumrah was on the verge of national selection. He had to wait over a year for another call-up, which came after a productive 2015-16 domestic season in which he was Gujarat’s second-highest wicket-taker in the Ranji Trophy and topped the bowling charts in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, which included a five-for in the List-A final, which gave Gujarat their first one-day title.

Bumrah has been a threat to batters at the Ranji level since his debut, having been a regular performer on the domestic circuit. From his slower deliveries to his reverse-swinging yorkers at the end, his quick-arm motion has made his variations practically indiscernible. He was out for a spell in the 2014/15 seasons due to an injury, but he recovered and continued to play as before.

He made his debut in the 2013 edition of the league, getting little game experience, but rapidly rose to become a fixture in the MI starting eleven in subsequent seasons, stunning batters with the pace he created from his wrist. By 2017, he had established himself as the team’s go-to bowler, even ahead of Malinga, as proven by his selection for a Super Over against the Gujarat Lions, when he justified the choice by protecting 12 runs against Brendon McCullum and Aaron Finch.
