Following the Western Australia U17 and U19 teams, Stoinis made a reputation for himself after playing his country at the U19 World Cup in 2008. In the Ford Ranger Cup in 2009, he got his List A debut for Western Australia’s senior squad. He also earned his Sheffield Shield debut just a few days later, both against Queensland.

He appeared in a few games for his team during the season, but he was never a sure thing in the starting lineup. He also competed in Western Australia Grade Cricket for his club, Scarborough. He also represented the Northcote club in the Victorian Premier Cricket tournament, where he scored a lot of runs. In the 2012 English season, he moved to England to play for Northampton Town in the Premier League where he took a hattrick in the tournament. After that, he was chosen to represent Kent in the Second XI Championship.

Stoinis’ 170-run innings against Tasmania’s cricket team convinced the selectors to put him in the top order for Victoria. In the next season, he extended his purple patch and finished the 2014/15 Sheffield Shield season as the Victorian team’s leading run-getter. He batted 785 times for a 49.06 average.

Because of his domestic performances in Australia and England, he was called up to the national team.
