So they start their journey again with the ambition that this could be their year to lift the trophy. Two new captains are leading both teams from the last year.

Punjab Kings was led by their new captain Mayank Agarwal and Royal challenges Bangalore was led by Faf Du Plessis.
Punjab Kings have formed an excellent team for this year’s IPL with the addition of some explosive players in their squad like Rajapaksha, Liam Livingstone, and Odean Smith.

Royal Challenger Bangalore also shaped a good unit with a different captain.
Anuj Rawat and the captain Faf Du Plessis came to open the innings, and faf was absolutely at his best.
He looked million dollars with the bat and was supported by Anuj Rawat
They had a steady start in the first six overs, and they ended up with 41 for no loss.
Anuj then threw his wicket away, scoring only 21 from 20 balls.

Then comes the real charm of RCB at no 3 sensational Virat Kohli at Number 3, a number which he is so accustomed to batting at.
He looked good in the beginning, he was timing the ball well all around and rotating the strike, finding the gaps, and making sure that the scoreboard kept on improving.
On the other side, Faf was at his very best.

He was smoking Punjab’s bowler all over the park.

Faf’s Fabulous Night

The newly appointed captain of RCB took the responsibility on his shoulders and did not leave it for anyone.
He scored a fabulous 88 from 57 balls.

He cleared the boundaries for fun tonight and hit seven sixes in the innings.
It was a pretty incredible performance because of his impactful knock. RCB managed to score 205 on the board.

Last 5 Overs Heroics Of RCB

RCB managed to score 62 runs in their last 5 overs, and it was only based on the brilliance of Faf and some contribution from Virat Kohli and a late finish by Dinesh Kartik (DK.)
Virat was unbeaten till the end, scoring 41 from 29 balls, but it was Dinesh Karthik’s knock that gave them the impetus to finish it on high.
He Scored a marvelous 32 from only 14 balls, striking at over 200, and his innings made sure that RCB got over 200 and ended up with 205 for 2.

The Carnage Of Sixes At Mumbai

13 Sixes were hit in the first innings of RCB.
It was absolute carnage and a big thanks to Faf Du Plessis, who hit 7 out of those 13 sixes.
T20 cricket is all about hitting those big sixes and getting those big scores, so this match was perfect from the first innings for the fans around the world.

Rahul Chahar The Sensation

In a match where everyone went for plenty, the only bowler who tightened the screws of the opposition was Rahul Chahar.
He was brilliant, just gave away 22 runs in his 4 overs.
He gave no freebies to the batters.
In a match where bowlers conceded runs over 10 runs per over.
His economy was less than 6, which was quite applaudable.

They have just got some seriously talented T20 specialists, the combination of local + overseas along with the sources of West Indian Giant as well, so that makes them a very, very brutal batting attack.
When they came out chasing 205, it was always on the cards that it was going to be a good game of cricket as Punjab could chase that
RCB, despite getting an excellent score, was never in with the thought that it would be a walk in the park for them as they would have been familiar with the Punjab kings batting exhibition.
They started with a rollicking start.
The Two local batters at the top of Punjab, Shikhar Dhawan and Captain Mayank Agarwal, both of them helped the team to score 63 in the first six overs without losing any wickets; it was the perfect platform for the run chase.

They lost their first wicket in the 8th over when Mayank Agarwal fell in prey to Hasaranga.
He scored a decent 32 from 24 balls which ensureD that his team is off to a stable start.

At the halfway mark, they were 97 for 1, so the run rate required was around 11, but they had nine wickets in hand, and it was quite a sufficient and encouraging resource.
Shikhar Dhawan was marching forward from one end before he lost his wicket at 43
The newly sensational talent of Sri Lanka Rajapaksa, who batted at number 3 for Punjab, was imposing in his first outing in the IPL.
He scored a quickfire 43 from 22 balls, ensuring they were out from the required run rate.
They had Lil bit of hiccups in the middle when they lost Rajapaksa and Livingston in regular intervals.
Then it was the show of West Indian Giant Odean Smith

Odean Smith’s Special:

In the last four overs, Punjab needed 42 runs and had five wickets in hand.
Odean Smith came to the crease, and he played a very simple and impactful knock of 8 ball 25 runs that were just good enough to finish the game for his team.
He also won the player of the match award for this astonishing performance.
He is known for his power-hitting as well
He had 3 sixes and 1 four, and that was sealed the deal for Punjab KKing
They won the game by an over to spare and by five wickets.
That was quite a remarkable run chase by Punjab and stated a statement of authority to the other teams to show their strength in their batting.
